Skills Training for Therapists
This on-site training program offers education and
experience in developing mindfulness to both support
the personal wellbeing of treatment providers
and as a means to integrate mindfulness skills into
psychotherapy practice.
Participants receive an overview of the current theory
and research on mindfulness in clinical
settings. The training integrates practices from
the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program,
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Dialectical
Behavior Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment
Therapy. Through experiential exercises, participants
learn mindfulness skills that facilitate awareness,
relieve stress and enhance clinical skills.
Participants experience first-hand how mindfulness
cultivates and enhances numerous qualities suited to
establishing a therapeutic alliance including
attention, compassion, empathy and therapeutic
presence.
Resources for teaching mindfulness are included.
